What is the Reedley Active Transportation and Parkway Master Plan?

Project Background

Project Purpose and Benefits

Increasing transportation options, better access to jobs and services, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle are all critical for making Reedley a generally attractive place to live and raise a family.

The Reedley Active Transportation and Parkway Master Plan seeks to expand and improve upon the existing bicycle and pedestrian networks and ensure that transportation infrastructure accounts for newer forms of mobility, such as e-bikes and scooters, and is developed for people of all ages and abilities. The Plan will also build upon the existing trails network and consider ways to improve access to the Reedley Parkway.

A major focus of the plan will be to develop safe and accessible infrastructure for bicyclists and pedestrians of all comfort levels. This approach will promote active transportation options for all Reedley residents, including those who are interested in walking or bicycling, but may not feel comfortable yet.

The planning process will begin with a review of existing conditions and analysis of desired connections. Roadway characteristics data, assessment of barriers and gaps, along with input from the community will be used to identify desired improvements. In addition to prioritizing active transportation infrastructure projects, the Plan will allow the City to be competitive for State and federal grant funding.

The Reedley Active Transportation and Parkway Master Plan will be completed in late 2023.
